Some Background About Our Jewelry
Baltic Amber is a fossilized resin from extinct trees dating back 30 to 90 million years. Many Amber gem stones have inclusions (insects or plant life) that had been trapped in the Amber millions of years ago. Colors vary from white, yellow (butterscotch) honey, cognac, green and cherry. Preferred Amber for jewelry comes from the Baltic Sea area. Amber, although a fossilized resin has a soft smooth touch, is lightweight and comfortable to wear. Amber is known for its' beauty and healing power.
Larimar also known as "Stephelia's Stone" is a rare blue variety of Pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean and was formed within secondary occurrences of volcanic flows many many years ago. Its' colorization varies from white, light-blue, green-blue to very deep blue.
JASPER is an opaque and fine grained variety of chalcedony. It often contains organic materials and mineral oxides which give it interesting patterns and colors. Found worldwide, a wide variety of Jasper is found in the western areas of the United States. Peanut wood Jasper is petrified ancient fossil material from Araucaria species of trees and is mined in western Austrailia. All Jasper was formed in molten lava millions of years ago and is found in a wide variety of colors.
