This is an early tin tray, dating to the 1900-1914 era, nicely lithographed. A wicker basket is overflowing with luscious fruit, apples and pears and grapes and oranges. I even see a banana! Measuring 11" by 16", it has a curled lip and sloping sides, about an inch deep. There is, as you can see, some litho loss, and I've shown you a close up of it. A lovely old frame, a beautifully grained oak with ornate embellishments, it contains an old print of a mother and her child, she pointing out Australia on a globe. The frame measures 11.5" by 8" with the inside oval opening 6.25" by 4.5". There are some small areas of loss to the raised floral sprays on the side, as well as small bits on the top and bottom embellishments, but they are fairly difficult to notice. Made for the English toffee firm of Fillery's, this tin features Santa, or Father Christmas, checking his list of Lucky Boys and Girls. Over his shoulder, a bag of toys, including a darling Golly or Golliwog. Octagonal in shape, with a lift off lid, this tin does have wear, as you can see. A spot of litho loss just above his list, some scratches and some pin sized dents. Still, it displays well, so I couldn't pass it up. This holiday tin is 5.25" by 4" by 1", a sweetie for the Christmas season.
