Scarce to rare Catalina Pottery bowl in the shape of a clam shell. The exterior or outside of the bowl is turquoise. The interior of the bowl is a shade of red which could be Toyon Red or Coral Island. It has the look of mauve to me and could have been an experimental color. Marked on the bottom: "Catalina, Made in U.S.A., Pottery". Made on Catalina Island, California between 1927 and 1937. No chips or cracks. Measures 12 1/2" x 10" x 2". Remarkable condition.
